Trauma Informed Expressive Arts Mentoring

Expressive Arts combine the visual arts, movement, drama, music, writing and other creative processes to foster deep personal growth. Our program uses an evidence based approach to support and foster healing for youth who have been impacted by trauma.
The Expressions Trauma Informed Program works with at-risk females who have been impacted by trauma. This trauma can range from being a victim of abuse, bullying, domestic violence, grief, and involvement within foster care. The groups are small (up to 5 participants) to allow for a more intensive program. The groups are sorted by age. The ages range from 6-17 and similar ages are grouped together.

The program includes tools and techniques that foster healing and learning. This allows the participant the ability to express emotions and thoughts that young people have difficulty expressing through talk therapy.

The small groups and individual programs to allow for the participant to build trust with the facilitator of the program and a safe nonjudgmental space is created that fosters healing.  Each group last for a 12-week session and includes debriefing with parents and/or guardian to assist in healing for the whole family.

We have partnered with Palmetto Trauma and Victim Services to offer an expressions program for adult victims of abuse and trauma. These groups are for individuals 18+ and work to coach the participants into healing with expressions of the arts.
